Shisha Tobacco and Shisha Pipe

When you are starting out with smoking hookah, you should purchase the shisha in smaller sized packages and try a lot of different brands. Each different brand of Shisha Tobacco will be different, and the quality can be a huge difference.

One orange flavor from one brand will taste good, and then another orange flavor from a different brand can taste horrible.

There are hundreds of different flavors of shisha to choose from. It is a good idea to buy smaller sized containers of shisha. The best kinds of hookah coals to get are all natural.

Pipes also differ in size from large to miniature, with each one being more appropriate for different purposes – from parties, to small groups of friends, to private use. Pipes are also made from various materials nowadays, some of which are less durable than others. Certain materials can also have adverse health effects for smokers.

Most shisha pipe merchants sell three main sizes, a small, medium and large version which vary both in height and weight. If it will be mostly for personal use, there's no need to buy a gigantic pipe.

Again, if your pipe will be primarily for personal use, one hose will be fine. Most nargila pipe merchants sell one, two, three and four-hose pipes.

Other well-known brand names that you may come across if you're in the market for a pipe are Nammor and Mya Saray (a popular Chinese brand). The Egyptian pipes, while they are higher quality, also tend to be quite pricey.

Many Chinese pipes, for example, are made of inferior materials that may not be entirely safe to smoke through. There's some speculation that smoking through a copper pipe can be poisonous to humans, although no solid scientific studies have proven the exact effects. But it's probably better to be on the safe side and pay a little more for a quality pipe made of reliable materials by a respected brand.

5 Strategies for Dominating Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is an essential tool for any business. Sites such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are among the most popular sites regularly visited on the internet and can generate large numbers of visitors and new sales leads.

Many businesses are already utilizing social media marketing as part of their ongoing business strategy, but a large percentage of these are not aware of the essentials required to fully maximize social media to its full potential.

Here are 5 important criteria that need to be addressed in order to run a successful social media campaign.

1. Search Engine Rank Awareness
Social media profiles now make regular appearances in search engine listings. The major search engines are placing greater importance on these profiles as they tend to possess regularly updated topical content and provide quality information that search engine users are looking for.

Any social media profile should be created with search engine placement in mind. Ensure that relevant keywords are placed in titles, and content, and that any links use keywords (located within the anchor text). Brand names should be clearly visible to augment the likelihood of search engines displaying a social media profile for brand-related search queries.

2. Additional Site Traffic from Social Media Posts

Search engines now index and display individual social media posts in their search results. The search engines consider these posts topical, relevant and useful to their users - 3 of the main criteria search engines look for when ranking a page (or submission).

Posting quality submissions on social media sites and including links back to a main website, or webpage, within these posts can seriously incréase website traffic - if the posts are indexed and displayed in search engine listings.

Social media bookmarking sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon and Slashdot have been known to drive thousands of visitors to websites. Submit blog posts - and website content - to these sites and there is a good chance that these submissions will capture the interest of readers and result in increased website traffic.

3. Use Social Media for SEO-Based Links

Links back to a main website can be placed in most of the social media profiles. These are useful links from high authority websites and good quality backlinks influence where a website is ranked within a search engine.

Many social media bookmarking sites now apply the NOFOLLOW attribute to links due to abuse, but there are still some major platforms that continue to use the DOFOLLOW attribute. At the time of writing, these social bookmarking sites still allow DOFOLLOW links:

    • FriendFeed
    • Furl
    • Slashdot
    • Digg
    • Mixx

Even if a bookmarking site applies the NOFOLLOW attribute, links within posts can still pay dividends. Regardless of their SEO-based backlink power, people will still follow these links back to a main site and this means increased traffic and greater site visibility.

4. Target Specific Markets

The simplicity of creating a social media profile allows for the creation of multiple campaigns. A good business strategy should run a main social media profile and then look to create smaller, laser-targeted profiles that cater for very specific niche markets related to the main business interest.

If a business sells a wide variety of products, it should look to create individual profiles that target the different categories of products sold. This tactic allows the business to concentrate on each subset of product, as well as the potential customers searching for these specific products, or type of products. By breaking down social media campaigns, a business can provide relevant, topical information that caters for very specific individuals.

5. Improved Brand Recognition

Many businesses fail to realize the importance of social media profiles when it comes to increasing brand recognition. These social media platforms have millions of daily visitors and provide an unequalled resource for rapidly promoting a brand, or product.

Having a main website ranked high in a search engine for that particular brand name is great - as long as enough people are performing search queries using that specific brand-name keyword. Social media provide an easier solution for promoting brand recognition and this factor should be forefront in any social media strategy.

Make sure the brand is clearly visible in a profile - include it in the profile title and bio; promote the brand discreetly in sporadic posts and if there is a brand-related business logo, this should be placed on the main profile page.

It has been suggested that a person needs to see, or hear, a brand name seven times before they consider becoming a customer. Social media offers a business the best solution for reaching the largest potential audience.

By utilizing social media marketing and concentrating on these 5 important criteria, any business can potentially expand website traffic, sales leads and easily reach targeted customer bases. Social media marketing is starting to become very competitive, but not everybody has learned to optimize their campaigns and fully utilize the power of social media marketing. The business that learns to adapt its strategies and play to the strengths of social media is the one that jumps ahead of the competition.

Get More Speed Internet Connection and Unlimited Local Phone

For much blogger in the world, high speed internet conection is a must. like me for example, every day i need to online with my computer to downloading, uploading, blogging, surfing and much more.

Many internet provider offering high speed internet connection, but i have try many broadband provider. Now i use fiber optic internet conection.

Fiber-optic communication is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber. The light forms an electromagnetic carrier wave that is modulated to carry information. First developed in the 1970s, fiber-optic communication systems  have revolutionized the telecommunications industry and have played a major role in the advent of the Information Age.

Optical fibers are more resistant towards the external interference. They are lighter and thinner. Therefore, they transmit data in digital form instead of analogue form. Fiber optics has thus resulted in conversion of every electronic medium signal transmittance in digital form.

The transmittance of data through fiber optics is based on the principle of total internal refraction. The data is transmitted through the medium of light. This may sound weird but you will be surprised to know that more than half of the contemporary technology is based on the concept and functions of fiber optics. Telephone, radio and television are the most common gadgets that excessively employ this technology.

The Internet and fiber optics have become inseparable because the optical fibers facilitate high data carrying capacity and high bandwidth. For example the provider that use fiber optics internet conection is Qwest.

Qwest high speed internet use fiber optics data conection up to 20 Mbps, that is the perfect speed to watch your favorite online movie. make crisp video calls or online games.

Qwest also have qwest phone service, with this service you can get unlimited local calls, no contracts and streamlined billing also other features. I dare you to try it.

Microsoft browser ballot criticised for being 'limited'

Europeans are not getting as wide a choice of browser as they may think, claims a web designer.

From 1 March, European users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer began seeing pop-up screens asking them if they wanted to try a different browser.

The choice was offered to settle an anti-trust case the European Commission brought against Microsoft.

But some say almost half the browsers on offer are clones of IE that only give people an illusion of choice.

Display choice

When the browser choice page popped-up for web designer Richard Quick, he decided to try out some of the lesser known programs on offer.

While installing and using them he noticed that many were based around a core technology, known as a rendering engine, built and maintained by Microsoft. The firm's Internet Explorer (IE) uses the Trident engine.

IE and four of the other less well-known browsers, Avant, Maxthon, Slim and Green Browser, all use it too. Another, Sleipnir, uses Trident as a default and can also use the Gecko rendering engine.

"The aspect of a browser that decides what bit to put where on the page, that's the rendering engine," said Mr Quick. While he acknowledged that most people were likely to pick one of the popular programs shown on the first browser choice page - which include Apple's Safari, Google's Chrome, Mozilla's Firefox and Opera - his complaint is that those who pick a new one were not getting as much choice as they thought.

Of the 12 browsers on offer, five use the Trident rendering engine, three use Mozilla's Gecko, two use WebKit, and one uses Opera's Presto. Sleipnir can use either Trident or Gecko.

This meant, he said, that almost half of the browsers being offered were IE or something very similar.

"If you choose IE you will get pages rendered the IE way," he said. "But if you choose these browsers you will get the pages rendered the IE way too."

Mr Quick said he had sent a complaint about the choices to the European Commission.

A Microsoft spokesman declined to comment on Mr Quick's findings but directed the BBC towards public documents which set out how the choice of browsers was made.

Clause 10 of this said: "Nothing in the design and implementation of the Choice Screen and the presentation of competing web browsers will express a bias for Internet Explorer."

Microsoft is also not allowed to feature any browser "which is based on Internet Explorer's rendering engine and the development or distribution of which is funded in whole or in substantial part by Microsoft."

The browser choices, it said, is based on the 12 most widely used browsers that run on Windows 7 measured by an agreed methodology.

Smart browsers

Another web designer Paul Boag said few web designers were fans of the Trident rendering engine.

"From a web designers point of view, its all to do with support for the World Wide Web Consortium specifications," he said.

These specifications dictate how the different elements of a webpage should be displayed. Mr Boag said Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera did the best job of adhering to the W3C specifications.

"Internet Explorer is somewhere down the list," he said.

This meant, he said, that many of the things it was easy to do in other browsers, such as create shadows on the page, required far more lines of code or workarounds in IE.

There is currently a vocal campaign to extinguish the older IE version 6. Mr Boag said this had largely come about because its rendering engine was so out of date and hard to use.

Many web designers were now pushing a technology called "progressive enhancement" said Mr Boag.

This tunes a webpage to the software that people use to view it, he said.

"It gives the less intelligent browser something much more basic and gives the better browser something better on top," he said.

If it was widely adopted, he said, it could mean that users of IE or browsers that use the same rendering engine see only the most basic elements of a page. Others with more sophisticated browsers will get the full experience.

Google and Yahoo extend ties with Facebook and Twitter

Web giants announce further integration with social networking sites.

Yahoo has announced that its sites will be accessible through Facebook Connect from next year, while from today all sites using Google Friend Connect can be accessed through users' Twitter logins.

The new integration shows a growing recognition by Yahoo and Google of the social networking sites' huge popularity.Jim Stoneham, vice president of Communities for Yahoo, said that the extended integration is a continuation of the company's strategy to make its sites more open, social and personally relevant.

Facebook Connect allows the site's 350 million users to login to other web sites using their social networking ID.

"With this integration, we are opening the door for two of the internet's largest online communities to make it easier for people to stay connected," Stoneman said.

The sites include Yahoo Mail, News, Sports and Finance.

Yahoo chief executive Carol Bartz spoke in March of Yahoo's intention to partner with social networking sites, including YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Skype, to provide a seamless experience when users move from Yahoo to more social places.

Until now the integration between Yahoo and Facebook allowed Facebook users to access their profiles and update their status from the Yahoo homepage.

The Google announcement will mean that its nine million Google Friend Connect users will be automatically connected to their Twitter profile and contacts once they have signed in.

Google users will be able to invite friends via Twitter and tweet when they have become a member of a Google site.

Friend Connect allows developers to add social features to their web sites.

Apple: iPad Will Beat Netbooks With "Magic"

In a talk intended to woo investors, Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook said the iPad will win over potential netbook buyers, but not because of specs or features.
No, Cook said the iPad's magical properties will seal the deal. "The netbook is not an experience people are going to continue wanting to have," Cook said, according to Macworld. "When they play with the iPad and experience the magic of using it ... I have a hard time believing they're going to go for a netbook."

I'm not trying to be flippant by bringing this up. Cook is, of course, brings up a valid point about the user experience, one that will be similar to the iPhone. On paper, netbooks can do everything the iPad can -- and more -- especially netbooks with graphics accelerators for watching HD video. They're cheaper too, and more customizable, with an operating system people are familiar with.

But there is something about that user experience. When Apple introduced the iPhone in 2007, sans App Store, it was a hit -- even though you could get the same basic features of Web, multimedia and e-mail on other phones. When Apple introduced the iPod in 2001, it was a hit even though other MP3 players, such as the Archos Jukebox, let you store more music (side note: step back in time and check out the iPod's foresight-lacking detractors). The difference in all cases is the value Apple puts on user experience.

However, the iPad is also in a different situation, because it's not an Apple netbook. While the iPhone succeeded other smartphones, and the iPod succeeded other MP3 players, the iPad is a slim touch screen device that doesn't quite compare with a netbook.

That means consumers will have a harder time thinking of it as a device for traditional computing. If Apple wants to take on netbooks, the real challenge will be convincing people that the iPad is not just for entertainment -- an oversized iPod Touch, if you will.

With the introduction of iWork for the iPad, the iPad indeed accomplishes the original goal of the netbook, which was to provide a simple device for Web browsing, e-mail, and word processing. But the usefulness of netbooks has expanded, and they're now considered mini-computers. When my old laptop kicked the bucket, I used a netbook for work every day until I scraped together enough cash for another notebook, and it was fine.

I'm not sure the same could be said for the iPad. If your work is limited to office productivity software and e-mail, you'll be fine. But can a Web developer write code on the iPad? Can a blogger download, edit and upload photos? And what about specialized software that only work on Macs or PCs? For people whose work requires a bit more flexibility, no amount of magic will get the job done.

Google Cuts Nexus One ETF to $150 From $350

Google has cut a fee charged to users who cease using its Nexus One smartphone before four months from $350 to $150, making it somewhat more palatable for users dissatisfied with the device to put it down. Not long after Google began selling the Nexus One from its own Webstore Jan. 5, bloggers who read the terms of sale page noticed Google vowed to charge users who ceased using the device early a $350 Equipment Recovery Fee. Consumers who bought a subsidized Nexus One for $179 through T-Mobile and canceled the contract before 120 days must pay Google an Equipment Recovery Fee in addition to the $200 Early Termination Fee they would pay to T-Mobile. A Google spokesperson explained to eWEEK that the ERF is a way to recoup its investment because it subsidizes the devices purchased with T-Mobile service. "This is standard practice for third-party resellers of T-Mobile and other operators, and you will find similar policies for other mobile service resellers," the spokesperson said. The slash in the ERF popped up on the Nexus One terms of sale Web page. "You agree to pay Google an equipment subsidy recovery fee (the "Equipment Recovery Fee") in the event you cancel or downgrade your wireless plan within 120 days of activation of wireless service. If you activate a new line of service with T-Mobile, your Equipment Recovery Fee will be $150 USD if you cancel or downgrade your service plan within 120 days of activation. If you are upgrading an existing line of service with T-Mobile, your Equipment Recovery Fee will be $50 USD if you cancel or downgrade your service within 120 days of activation." The move also comes in the wake of a broad probe into ETFs by the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC Jan. 26 sent letters to AT&T, Google, Sprint and T-Mobile asking how ETFs are charged and if consumers are adequately informed of the ETFs. Verizon Wireless first sparked the FCC's interest in ETFs Nov. 15 when it was disclosed the wireless carrier would double the penalty fees to $350 for certain subscribers who leave their contracts early. Meanwhile, spotty 3G is one reason Nexus One users might cite as reason to void their contracts with Google and T-Mobile. Google is pushing out a software fix for this to the Android 2.1 operating system on the device. To help mediate the 3G service and other complaints, Google expanded its service for the Nexus One to include phone support in addition to online help. TMO News reported that 888-48-NEXUS (63987) is now live from Google and open from 7 a.m. EST to 10 p.m. EST daily. Sales of smartphones based on Google's Android OS are looking up, according to comScore. The researcher said U.S. marketshare for Android is now 5.2 percent, rising 2.7 percentage points in December 2009. Attribute that growth to strong sales of the Motorola Droid, which has sold hundreds of thousands of units since November. Android could well push past Palm, which dropped to 6.1 percent from 8.3 percent in September, in the next comScore survey. RIM was the leading mobile smartphone os with 41.6 percent share of U.S. smartphoneSs. Apple was No. 2 with 25.3 percent share, followed by Microsoft with 18.0 percent of the market. Source eweek.com

The Amazing Acme People Search Advantage

The first big surprise I got when I signed up for the Acme People Search affiliate business was the Support Forum. I hadn’t seen any trace of support in any of the affiliate resources and opportunities I had checked out previously. Even Clickbank showed no sign of a support forum, though I discovered later that there are some Clickbank forums that are not administered, sanctioned or otherwise recognized by Clickbank itself. The second big surprise I got was when I posted my first question to the forum. It was getting on toward midnight on a Wednesday night when I submitted my question asking for clarification on a few of the web hosting options. I made a mental note to check back the following morning on the off-chance that I might get a response that quickly. I signed back into the forum 15 minutes later after another related question popped into my head. I wanted to see if I could edit my post to include the new question. I sat there stunned momentarily on discovering that my post had already received not one but two replies. This was beyond prompt efficiency, bordering on instantaneous! It wasn’t long before I found out why. The Acme People Search forum has a powerful incentive for people in the business to help newcomers. It’s called the Super Sponsor program. It’s the brainchild of APS founder and CEO Tissa Godivitarne. He’s very hands-on in the forum and if he notices that you are actively trying to help people by responding to their posts, he picks up the tab for your basic costs, which amount to just under $90 a month. This includes hosting fees, a monthly subscription charge as well as the per-month cost of an Internet marketing educational program called Wealthy Affiliate. It is unique. I have seen nothing in my research of affiliate programs that comes anywhere close to this ambitious bonus plan. It was immediately evident to me that I had come to the right place. Why not to try it?

Google Leads in Mobile Search

In today’s daily chart from the Silicon Insider we get to see how well the top search properties are doing on PCs in contrast to Mobile. It probably won’t come as much of a surprise that Google has the lead in Mobile just as it does on PCs. It was interesting to note, however, that Yahoo is farther behind Google on Mobile than on PCs despite its highly touted mobile portal and tools. Source stepford ttd Read more.....

Suicide blasts at Jakarta Ritz, Marriott kill 12

JAKARTA, Indonesia – Suicide bombers posing as guests attacked American luxury hotels in Indonesia's capital and set off a pair of blasts Friday that killed eight people and wounded more than 50, authorities said. The bombings, which came two minutes apart, ended a four-year lull in terror attacks in the world's most populous Muslim nation. At least eight Americans were among the wounded. The blasts at the high-rise J.W. Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels, located side-by-side in an upscale business district in Jakarta, blew out windows and scattered debris and glass across the street, kicking up a thick plume of smoke. An Associated Press reporter saw bodies being carried away in police trucks. The attackers evaded hotel security, smuggling explosives into the Marriott and assembling the bombs in a room on the 18th floor, where an undetonated device was found after the explosions. The bombers had stayed at the hotel for two days and set off the blasts in restaurants at both hotels. "They had been using the room as their 'command post' since July 15, and today they were supposed to check out," police chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri said. Security video footage captured the moment of the explosion in the Marriott. The brief, grainy images show a man wearing a cap and pulling a bag on wheels walking across the lobby toward the restaurant, followed by a flash and smoke filling the air. "There was a big explosion followed by a shock wave," said Ahmad Rochadi, a security guard at the Marriott who was checking cars in the basement. "I rushed upstairs and saw smoke billowing from the lobby." Alex Asmasubrata, who was jogging nearby, said he walked into the Marriott before emergency services arrived and "there were bodies on the ground, one of them had no stomach," he said. "It was terrible." The attack occurred as the Marriott was hosting a regular meeting of top foreign executives at major companies in Indonesia organized by the consultancy firm CastleAsia, said the group, which is headed by an American. An Australian think tank, the Strategic Policy Institute, had warned the Southeast Asian terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah might launch new attacks just a day before Friday's deadly strike. Authorities did not immediately name a suspect, but suspicion fell on Jemaah Islamiyah or its allies. The al-Qaida-linked network is blamed for past attacks in Indonesia, including a 2003 bombing at the Marriott in which 12 people died. Hundreds of postings on a Web site used by Indonesian jihadists praised the attacks. "Mission accomplished," read one posting on the password-protected site, Arrahmah.com. Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said the attack was carried out by a "terrorist group" and vowed to arrest the perpetrators. He also suggested a possible link last week's national presidential election. The Manchester United football team canceled a visit to Indonesia in the wake of the attacks. The team had been scheduled to stay at the Ritz- Carlton on Saturday and Sunday. Security is tight at five-star hotels in Indonesia. Guests typically walk through metal detectors and vehicles are inspected, but many visitors say searches are often cursory. "If they (the terrorists) were to separate explosives and metals they could get through the detectors because the wands the hotels use do not detect explosives," said Jakarta-based security consultant Ken Conboy. President Barack Obama condemned the "outrageous attacks" and said the U.S. government "stands ready" to help its ally in the effort to combat extremism. "We will continue to partner with Indonesia to eliminate the threat from these violent extremists, and we will be unwavering in supporting a future of security and opportunity for the Indonesian people," said Obama, who spent part of his childhood in Indonesia. The European Union also condemned the blasts. The Marriott was hit first, followed by the blast at the Ritz-Carlton. Security Minister Widodo Adi Sucipto told reporters the explosions happened at 7:45 a.m. and 7:47 a.m. (0045 and 0047 GMT, 8:45 p.m. and 8:47 p.m. EDT) and that "high explosives were used." He said eight people were killed and 50 wounded. Anti-terrorist forces with automatic weapons rushed to the site, and authorities blocked access to the hotels in a district also home to foreign embassies. It has been nearly four years since a major terrorist attack in Indonesia — a triple suicide bombing at restaurants at the resort island of Bali that killed 20 people. Officials said a New Zealander was among those killed, and that 17 other foreigners were among the wounded, including eight Americans and citizens of Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, South Korea and Britain. None of the Americans suffered life-threatening injuries, State Department spokesman Robert Wood said. All were treated and two were taken to Singapore for additional medical care, he said. The dead New Zealander was identified by his employer as Timothy David Mackay, 61, who worked for cement products manufacturer PT Holcim Indonesia. He was reportedly attending a business meeting at the Marriott. Two of those wounded at the Ritz-Carlton were employees of Phoenix-based Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold, Inc., said Bill Collier, a company spokesman. He declined to identity the two men or their nationalities, citing company policy, but said their injuries were not life-threatening. Freeport operates the world's largest gold mine in Indonesia's restive eastern Papua province. Several attacks have occurred in the past week on the road from the firm's sprawling Grasberg mining complex to the mountain mining town of Timika, leaving at least 15 people killed or wounded. Authorities initially blamed the ambushes on Papuan separatists, but official statements now refer to "an armed group" of professional marksmen. There was no claim of responsibility for the attacks, but terrorism analyst Rohan Gunaratna said the likely perpetrators were from Jemaah Islamiyah. "The only group with the intention and capability to mount attacks upon Western targets is Jemaah Islamiyah. I have no doubt Jemaah Islamiyah was responsible for this attack," he said. There was a crackdown in recent years by anti-terrorist officials in Indonesia, a predominantly Muslim nation of 235 million, but Gunaratna said the group was "still a very capable terrorist organization." Police have detained most of the key figures in the Indonesia-based Jemaah Islamiyah and rounded up hundreds of other sympathizers and lesser figures. In October 2002 two Bali nightclubs were attacked killing 202 people, many of them foreign tourists. Jemaah Islamiyah was accused of responsibility. ttd Read more.....

Microsoft Ready To Challenge Google in Search

Microsoft is getting ready to launch a new version of its Internet search engine. The software giant will roll out its latest effort next week, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Microsoft plans to offer its first public demonstration of the new search engine at the D: All Things Digital conference in Carlsbad, Calif. The Journal organizes that annual conference.

"Microsoft will demo the new engine and the new brand will be known by the D conference," confirmed Greg Sterling, principal analyst at Sterling Market Intelligence. "But the engine probably won't be live for the public until somewhat later, perhaps the first week of June. This is my speculation, not official timing notification."

Taking Kumo Live

The Journal reports Microsoft has been testing the new search engine, code-named Kumo, internally for months. It aims to organize search results better so consumers can spend less time clicking around Web pages looking for answers.

Details about Kumo emerged in an internal memo that was leaked in March. Satya Nadella, head of research at Microsoft's online services division, sent the memo via e-mail with the subject line "Internal Search Test Experience."

Nadella's memo contained with some compelling statistics. According to his research, in spite of the progress made by search engines, 40 percent of queries go unanswered. What's more, he reported, half of queries are about searchers returning to previous tasks and 46 percent of search sessions are longer than 20 minutes. His conclusion: Customers often don't find what they need from search.

"We believe we can provide a better and more useful search experience that helps you not just search but accomplish tasks. During the test, features will vary by country, but you'll see results organized in a way that saves you more time," Nadella wrote. "An explorer pane on the left side of results pages will give you access to tools that help you with your tasks. Challenging Google

Microsoft ranks a distant third in the search-engine wars. Nearly 65 percent of the searches conducted in April were on Google, according to comScore. Yahoo placed second in the monthly rankings at 20.4 percent, while Microsoft came in third with 8.2 percent. Beyond the top three, IAC/Interactive's Ask.com and Time Warner's AOL ranked fourth and fifth with under five percent of the total searches in April.

With no Yahoo search-engine deal in place as the second quarter nears an end, Microsoft is hoping Kumo helps it gain some ground from the competition. Sterling is watching to see how the market will respond to Microsoft's latest innovation.

"I've been using the engine, and it's definitely an improvement over Live Search. What will be as interesting as the launch itself will be to see how Microsoft tries to position and market the search engine," Sterling said. "There's a fascinating challenge there for the company in going up against Google. It's a little like Pepsi vs Coke."

Google Can Track Energy Use Power Meter

All you need is a “smart meter” that allows Google to tap into your energy usage and they’ll tell you where you can save money based on consumption.

I have to give it to Google…they sure do have some smart people that come up with unique ideas. Go read more about PowerMeter over at their .org site.

Next on the invention table? Keyboards for your computer that read your fingerprints so online billing information is no longer needed. You go to a shopping cart and they know who you are already. The project will then turn into small electrical currents that are sent through the keys into the human body where they can read your brain and index your entire life.

Lack of mortgages widening divide between rich and poor, study warns

Housing body says evidence suggests a continuing affordability problem can make the children of affluent owners still richer and the poorest even more disadvantaged

The lack of mortgages available on the market is widening the wealth gap between the rich and the poor, creating a more "polarised" society, a new study warned today.

The National Housing and Planning Advice Unit (NHPAU), the body set up to provide independent advice to local and national government on housing supply and affordability, said a continuing affordability problem has accentuated inequalities with evidence suggesting "it can make the children of affluent owners still richer and the poorest even more disadvantaged".

The wealthiest 10% of the population has seen home values rise at more than three times the rate for the poorest 10% and the NHPAU said the impact will continue for future generations as vastly differing levels of wealth are inherited by the next generation.

"We are in danger of creating a more polarised society if we fail to tackle our country's housing affordability problem," said Neil McDonald, chief executive at the NHPAU.

"We must not be fooled into thinking that the current fall in house prices means the problem is solved. Mortgage rationing means that housing is not more affordable in any real sense. And in the medium to long term an undersupply of housing means that affordability will simply worsen once the economy starts to revive."

In addition to the widening wealth gap, the NHPAU said there were other social and economic consequences of the country's continuing lack of housing affordability, including poorer health, unemployment and a housing market prone to "boom and bust".
